Window sizing and placement is reeeally WONKY, and there's some other nuisance stuff, all, I suspect, to make SideWriter differ from sidenote...much like Windows had to differentiate itself from OS X.
Under any circumstances, though, I'm a buyer!

SIDEWRITER RUNS IN macOS 10.14, MOJAVE, and it's 64 bit, so it will continue to run in future OS versions; at first look, it appears to be the replacement for my soon to be defunct 32 bit sidenote for which I've been looking.

Does this work in Mountain Lion, on my installation 96%cpu after trying to create one note. For me it just doesn't work...pity

I'm looking for a replacement for sidenote. SideWriter has less "tools" than sidenote has and doesn't doesn't support pictures.
I hope the dev is looking to implement a support for pictures too.

This is the best note software that I've ever used, for my particular needs, out of myriads that I've tried. This is simple, clean, functional, elegant, and stays out of the way while still being instantly available anytime I need it. It has exactly just the right amount of features for my use. The developer is really responsive too. I suggested a feature, and within one day he had released a new version that implemented that feature. He also responded within an hour of a small bug report I sent, and he worked with me for two days while we tracked it down and squashed it. Very professional and very responsive! 5 Stars all around!
